This delightful video offers a look at the home country of my wonderful Kazakh daughter [It is also certain to remove from your brain every misconception of the beautiful country portrayed in the movie “Boraдt.”] My trip to Kazakhstan was the highlight of my life, not only (but especially) because it was there Milena became my daughter, but also because of the natural beauty of the country, but also the friendliness of the Kazakhstani people, who could not have been more hospitable, and the eco-friendly approach to modernization.

Human Trafficking is becoming a BIG business

Attorney General | Human Trafficking Task Force

Around the country, and right here in Michigan, men, women and children are forced into prostitution, domestic servitude and other labor for little or no pay. Human trafficking is a modern-day form of slavery and it is the second-largest and fastest-growing criminal industry in the world. Attorney General Schuette is leading the fight against this horrific crime by prosecuting the state’s first-ever criminal cases under state law banning human trafficking in Michigan.

A Distressed Earth through Disney

As an environmental attorney, I feel obligated to reblog this incredible post from The Nerd Nebula (a pretty amazing blog) which captures with great feeling and amazing simplicity the destruction of the world’s environment with cartoon images from our youth.

Dr Slater's avatarThe Nerd Nebula

Ex Disney artist Jeff Hong sends a powerful message about the state of our planet through these unhappy endings showcased through the eyes of our favorite animated stars:

1. Deforestation:

Winnie The Pooh Winnie The Pooh

2. Polution

Mulan Mulan

3. Poverty

Lilo and Stitch Lilo and Stitch

4. Global Warming

Elsa Elsa

5. Animal Abuse

Dumbo Dumbo

Not that i enjoy the negative messages aligning to our current state of affairs (the truth hurts), but i do think Hong did an excellent job in hitting home the emotional messages in these pictures.
